Bratz Dolls rule

I went out for cocktails at the empress this evening. Guess who I saw...
MR JAY MANUEL!!!!
They were filming some sort of Canada's Next Top Model runway show in another room(for those who don't know, CanTop is filming in Victoria right now...), but he was taking a break in the cocktail bar. I just skulked, as I noticed him as I was leaving.

My new favourite person of life:

She won't win. But j'aime her anyway.

Tickets booked for New York yesterday. I'm there from Dec 21st to Dec 28th, so I need to work out my Victoria christmassing around that. I feel the same way I used to feel before I went ice-skating when I was little - simulaneously sugarrush excited and heartstoppingly scared. Yay/arg.

It is officially christmas month today and it is snowing. I love baby jesus and the festival of his birth a whole lot.

I went to the Big City today for some shopping.
I saw my Mol and had fudge and lunch.
I got some reeally beautiful/fugly shoes. or jolie-laide as the Frenches would say. I can't make up my mind on them, but I'm leaning towards love. I feel the same way about halva.
A new jacket, watch and necklace.
I'm getting (another) cold.
What are we doing for my birthday?

I'll try to summarise everything that happened, but I think there may have just been too many things. Forgive me if I forget stuff. and I'm way too lazy to photoshop out all of the redeyes. Just imagine everybody being a little less demonic-looking.

Nantucket

This is the house that I stayed in. They have a whole spare house for guests.

The first day I got there, it was Andrew's birthday. He hadn't told me, and I was sooo mad/embarassed. We went out for birthday dinner anyway.

That's Andrew's sister sitting opposite me. Look at the pants of the guy sitting next to her! HA.

We all went out on the boat and drank beer, which was sooo much fun. I got to drive it for like 30 seconds until all the boys decided I was too rubbish.
While on the boat I said "My, she was yar" about 10.4385 bajillion times. Anyone who knows what that's a reference to gets 12 bibi-cool gold stars.

We went to the Tennis Club for Independence Day. It was very, very Gilmores-esque. Fanciest cookout of my life, like being in a Ralph Lauren catalogue, but with balloon animals.

Andrew and I had a romantic beach picnic. That's a superfancy bottle of champagne next to, um, the French's mustard and Heinz ketchup. (juxtaposition, much?)

It started raining in Nantucket and wouldn't stop, so we were trapped in the house playing Scrabble and doing crosswords for two days. We got bored and decided to leave so we went to...

Bedford, which is out in the country in upstate New York.

The place is designed for fun. Lots of lego, a trampoline, a really deep pool and the best rope swing I've ever seen.

New York

I apparently didn't take many photos in New York. I guess I was too busy, or something. I went for dinner with a bunch of the people that I met on the boat, which was lovely.

Andrew & I went to a Yankees game. I am now an absolute expert on baseball. Ask me anything. I ate a hotdog.

Andrew had to go to Boston one morning so I went to the Chanel exhibit at the Met by myself. If there's anything that will guarantee to make you feel like you're dressed like a bum, it's a Chanel exhibit. I spent pretty much the rest of the day/rest of my life lamenting my lack of evening gowns.

On Thursday we got Starbucks and drank it on a bench in Central Park then we went out for brunch and then to H&M and Barney's. It was pretty much the best day of my life.

On our way out for dinner on the aforementioned 'best day of my life'

Now I'm home. I'm happy to be home, I suppose, but I'm sad that he's not here. He's going to visit next month, though, so that's something to look forward to.

and also, more importantly, the Harry Potter book comes out today. That's something to really look forward to. wee.

It involves wearing your lifejacket and standing out on deck while people tell you how to jump into the water and that you'll die in about 20 minutes in it. Wearing a lifejacket is not the best way to make a good first impression.

Nobody can look cool wearing one.

I tried anyway.

(fun fact:In the interests of gender-equality, we now say 'person overboard' rather than 'man overboard' if someone falls off the ship. I suspect that if you're in the middle of the Atlantic, you're not really worrying about sexism.)

For about two days before, and two days after New York I could not stop singing the Frank Sinatra song. Now it's in your head too, isn't it?

My mama gave some lectures. Doesn't she look sort of like a rockstar in this pic? Or do I just have an odd idea of academia?

I met a FABULOUS guy. Oh my, he's wonderful. We're pretty much running away together.

OMG J/K, he's some old man I danced with at the Black and White ball. My mum took loads of pictures of us, but this is the only one where I'm not looking at my feet. I LOVE ballroom dancing but I really do suck at it.
There's a picture of The Guy at the bottom. Keep reading.

I met John Cleese and went for drinks in his suite (with like 5 other people from Oxford University. It wasn't a me-and-john-cleese-all-alone-in-the-apartment-drinking kind of thing). That was AWESOME. He's super nice and super tall. I've never really seen any Monty Python, so I pretended to be above all that and didn't talk about his work. He probably wasn't fooled at all.

I met a ton of people. I met lots more people than this (including people who weren't, you know, twice my age.) But I was too drunk to hold a camera all of the time I was hanging out with them...

The boy in the last photo is Gates. He's AMAZING. and cute and funny etc. but 14. I made a joke to his mum about if I'd met Gates before Andrew I would have statutory raped him. Jokes about statutory rape to the parents of the person in question, it turns out, are not funny at all. You live and learn.

I drank more Veuve than a person should be allowed to in a lifetime. I was so seasick i could barely eat, but somehow my stomach could tolerate champagne and martinis. Thank God for that.

okay...the picture you've all been waiting for.
The boy/man.

I have my highest heels on in that photo. He's 6'5".
Harvard & Princeton graduate. Likes The Sopranos. Is really funny. and super smart on foreign policy. <strike>Republican</strike>. I don't want to think about that last one.
He wants to see me in the summer. I want to see him. yay.

I'm baaack.

I had an awesome/phenomenal time. Lots of dancing (both the cool kind and BALLROOM), lots and lots of champagne (um, $500 worth to be precise, even with the 50% discount. HA.), hanging out with John Cleese, a shipboard romance and hanging out with actual New York Society People. I had a grad party in the champagne lounge last night with thirty of my new friends from the boat. But I missed you lot.

I need to hear everything about Grad asap. I'm coming into school tomorrow despite suffering from intensual jetlag. I love you guys. and I love ships.

Photos soon!!!

There is uberstrange fatherdrama going on. I'll tell you all about it tomorrow.

6.5	IS THERE A DRESS CODE ON-BOARD THE SHIP?
In accordance with the high standards of elegance aboard QM2, you are requested to dress for dinner as you would for a fine restaurant. There will be two formal nights per week. Dress suggestions will be listed each day in the ship's Daily Programme.
Evening attire will be specified as one of the following:
Formal: Dinner Jacket (alternatively a dark suit) for men. Evening gown or other formal attire for women.
Informal: Jacket and tie for men. Cocktail dress, dressy trouser suit or similar for women.
Casual: For men, trousers and a sweater or shirt. For women, skirt or trousers with a sweater or blouse.
Dress code whilst teaching is jacket and tie for gentlemen and smart / elegant two-piece suit for ladies.

Cut to me peeing myself with excitement. and wishing that I had actually got my grad dress altered. FUCK. I never got around to it.

OKAY, I have a huge dilemma. I have no idea what to do.

My mum has been offered a guest-lecturer position on the Queen Mary 2, the world's biggest (and newest) ocean liner in the world from June 8th to June 15th. It's sailing from NEW YORK to LONDRES and she can take a guest (ie moi). oh my god, how fucking amazing, how awesome....but hold on a cotton-pickin' second isn't that when GRAD is? Oh yes.

SO, do I miss grad and go on the most fabulous boat ever invented or do I take part in the once-in-a-lifetime experience of my own graduation?

Thinking points for this one:

My mama is definitely going on the ship, so my grad would be sans maman anyway.

Seth Cohen didn't miss his prom

The Olsens did

I went to prom once already

The boat is legally Britain so I can drink on it. And there's a champagne lounge and nightclub on board.

I'll miss a week of school

It's GRAD

Everybody please HELP.

I went, uh, four times yesterday.

I meant to come back on Sunday, but I decided to stay on a couple more days with my mum because I wanted to keep shopping.

I bought my grad shoes. and some extras justincase.

I'll probably wear the gold for grad, I don't know though.

My mum bought shoes too.
TODAY IS MY HALF BIRTHDAY.

To celebrate I'm going to see Sweatshop Union tonight. Well, okay, it's really unrelated to the half-birthday festivities. But it should be awesome anyways.

I think I finally have somewhere to do my work experience. So I will be able to graduate! hurrah.

Mr Mathers (English teacher) tried to set me up with his son. Aglidhfdfhdsfdjk. so wierd.

Okay, it has been brought to my attention that I hardly ever update this thing. I'll try harder.
Better luck next time, Esquimalt!

My Week
with special guest appearances by Cher and My Grad Dress.

I got my grad dress. It needs work doing to it, but I really like it. I'm going to get the neckline cut waay lower than it is now. I'm going to Seattle this weekend to buy some shoes from Nordstrom. Since the dress itself dost, uh, twelve dollars, I have $300 to spend on shoes!

thursday was retro day.

I got second place. The prize was orange creme soda. Victory has never tasted sweeter than with 27g of carbs.

Chloe read us Cosmoporn to get us riled up for the rugby game. They remained sober. As did I. boo.

The weekend came and with it the sun, and so...

We beached it up on Friday and Sunday. I got a bit sunburned, but that's only a step down from suntanned, so I don't mind.

I went to Kala's on Friday, but felt sickly so came home and watched half of CSI before going to bed.

Sunday evening I SAW CHER. Holy shit, she was amazing. I don't have time to write about it now, but just let me say that she's the best drag queen I've ever seen in my entire life. Not very convincing as a woman, but a fabulous entertainer.

Does anybody else have secret TV best friends? People who you KNOW that if they met you (or existed), they would be your best ever friend in the world.

Mine are;
Rory Gilmore: okay, I know I am 76.2 years late in starting to watch the Gilmore Girls, but now that I do watch it Rory and I are BFF. Except that our mamas are really our besties, but we can be close second best friends. We're geeky, politics-lovin' cardigan-wearin' mama's girls.

Tina Fey: host of the Weekend Update on SNL. Ohmigod she's funny and clever and my other best friend. We'd have so much fun chattering away with each other and she could tell me celebrity stories and make me laugh. I don't really know what she would get from the relationship, but that's why it's not real.

I have others that are sort of TV good friends, like Tony the DJ off the Ellen show, and Janice Dickinson. But they're not my BEST friends.

Tell me your secret best friends
